The work represents an open-ended expression of hope—a reminder that growth is always possible, that wellbeing can be nurtured, and that there is always potential for something new to emerge. It considers the ways in which we grow alongside others, influenced by the relationships, environments and experiences that surround us. Garnet brings colour, energy and a sense of vitality to the work. Its deep red can suggest life, warmth and the pulse of growth. Urushi lacquer introduces another dimension through its layers, depth and highly considered surface. Applied gradually, it reflects the idea that lasting beauty and strength can develop through patience and care.
