Never

Never

NFS

Copper, patina, dye-sublimated image, aluminium, putty, enamel paint.

Preciousness is a very personal thing, yet the untimely loss of a loved one is a personal thing shared by a great many people at some time. I remain grateful for the presence that became the loss. The rawness of “Never” is about the intensity, frustration and anger at the futility of challenging what is unchangeable. The patina is about time – the brightness diminishes, the character of loss evolves but the substance is forever.

My practice is driven by an openness to inspiration, which can emerge from anywhere and everywhere. Experience, memory, observation, and imagination converge to form ideas and visions that gradually find their way into a material form, which is most usually, jewellery items. My work is a journey, a transformation of what I have experienced, found, and imagined into something with a life of its own.
