The deciduous beech tree, also known as Nothofagus gunnii, is native to the cool temperate rainforests of Tasmania, and its leaves undergo a breathtaking transformation each autumn. As the temperatures drop, the fagus leaves transition into a vibrant array of colors, ranging from golden yellows to deep oranges and fiery reds. This annual spectacle transforms Tasmania's landscapes, especially in the alpine regions such as Cradle Mountain and Mount Field National Park.
