I have always been deeply inspired by everything to do with ocean, its treasures and sea creatures, both mythical and real. Every now and again I imagine up and create an unusual piece inspired by Cephalopods. I do find them fascinating! This is my own version of a squid. Amongst my precious collection of treasures, I love fossils! It was really exciting to create this piece. I think I create backwards to what I was taught. I always start making the piece and placing components out in front of me and piece them together before I even touch pencil to paper. Nearly all of my drawings of designs are just quick sketches in my notebook so I remember what piece I’m working on. I’m always working on many pieces at a time so this makes it easy to record materials and labour time with the correct piece. I think I’m a more visual and tactile creator.
